В 1944 г. был создан Усть-Ордынский краеведческий музей, который в 1995 г. обрел статус Государственного Национального музея. Музейная экспозиция отображает историю, культуру, религию бурят с древнейших времен до настоящего периода. На территории музея находится комплекс под открытым небом «Бурятская крестьянская усадьба», где проводятся этнографические праздники.
